Welcome to our travel update BLOG! (Never thought I'd write a blog, but that's another post!)
Where to begin? I hoped to make these weekly but would you look at that? An entire month has gone by already so I'll have to summarize!
We moved out of our place on July 1 and spent the first two weeks camping at Fred Henne (about 5 km from downtown Yellowknife). Most of the time it was chilly and overcast but that was okay because with having just moved out of their own house via grandma's the kids needed to settle into a routine in our new house (or little-house-on-wheels as Sara calls it). So did Tim and I. There were a few nice days that more-or-less lined up with the weekend so we got some swimming in and that was fantastic.

We have learned a lot about trailer camping already:
1) don't assume the campground website measurements are accurate - they are not
2) working water heaters and drain plugs makes doing dishes much easier!
3) friends of my parents' were right: everyone in campgrounds are so friendly and willing to help - we put the theory to test the first night!
4) you can change which way the bathroom door swings by adjusting the levelling of the camper - useful when it doubles as the bedroom door for the kids at night.
